The Incas started building it around 1400 AD but abandoned only 100 years later possibly because of Spanish Conquest or its inhabitants died from smallpox that the European explorers exposed them to ,although , it was never actually found by the Spanish .It remained hidden until 1911, when Hiram Bingham, an American employed at Yale University led by a local 11 year old native boy rediscovered it and named it The Lost City of the Incas.
